Internship Opportunities at PAL-C

Are you a highly motivated and energetic person who is interested in U.S. government relations and working with the Pakistani-American community?  PAL-C is looking for volunteers to help with event planning, policy implementation, and administrative handling for its office in Washington D.C.

The Pakistani American Leadership Center provides an Internship Program to develop qualified professionals in fields in which Pakistani-Americans are traditionally underrepresented. The program enables young Pakistani-Americans to increase their awareness and exposure to fields that are traditionally neglected. It is intended to increase awareness among young Pakistani-Americans of the opportunities available in fields such as government, public affairs, media, and academics, while encouraging those who already have such interest. It also nourishes a sense of community activism among our Pakistani Americans through direct contact with community leaders.

PAL-C interns are inducted into the program at the headquarters in Washington D.C. There, the interns facilitate all administrative functions of the office, provide support to the Executive Director and Board members, and serve as PAL-C liaison with Members of Congress. All projects are carefully selected to ensure that they provide valuable and substantive experience.

All positions are available during the Fall (September to December), Spring (January to April), and Summer (May to August) terms and are unpaid unless otherwise noted. The position and duration of the internship can be modified to fit a candidate's interests and availability.

In most cases, the internship period can be extended upon approval of the candidate's performance. Although interns are responsible for finding their own room and board, PAL-C will try to assist applicants in finding housing close to the office.

Requirements

Applications must have completed at least two semesters of undergraduate study at an accredited college or university by the start of the program.

Please note that we cannot accept applicants from outside of the United States at this time.

Application Instructions

All applicants must submit a complete application consisting of the following items:

  • A completed Application Form
  • A one-page professional resume with cover letter
  • A short essay (see Application Form for more details)

Finalists will be interviewed and may be requested to furnish additional materials.

Please send all material to the PAL-C headquarters in Washington D.C. Please mention the position and term for which you are applying. Applicants will only be contacted if they are being considered.
