With Admiral Mullen's retirement this week, the professional relationship with General Kayani he cultivated in over 28 visits to Islamabad transfers to the new Chairman, but a personal relationship cannot be transferred, it is unique to the individual.
Knowing this, Admiral Mullen, much to General Kayani's chagrin, chose this moment to "cash out" on the personal goodwill their friendship had generated by going public with the harshest accusations ever leveled against the Pakistani military and ISI regarding their alleged support for the Haqqani network.

KABUL (AFP) – They may not be a common sight on the streets of Kabul yet, but hundreds of young Afghans have taken up skateboarding thanks to the unlikely dream of an Australian with a passion for peace.
Thirtysomething Oliver Percovich, who first stepped on a skateboard aged six, helped set up Skateistan after arriving in Kabul armed with just three boards in 2007.
Now around 330 young Afghans regularly ride the giant ramps at the skateboarding school and educational NGO's indoor skatepark in a giant hall in Kabul.

A UNESCO sustainable literacy pilot programme using Mobile Phone SMS text messaging has shown significant results in rural Pakistan. In this pilot project which ended last month, the learners who had just completed the basic literacy course, were given a mobile phone each. They receive three text messages a day in the local language. They are required to practise reading and writing the messages in their work book and reply to their teachers by text.

Skier Muhammad Abbas made a little sporting history by registering Pakistan in the Winter Olympics 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The 24-year-old Abbas came in ranked 3,764th in the world in giant slalom. He was hardly a medal threat, and wound up third-to-last among the 81 skiers who finished both runs. But it’s not about that. His ambitions are to soak up the moment and gain a few helpful hints to bring back to his tiny slope and inspire others.
