PAL-C Welcomes New Executive Director
Washington D.C., August 22, 2007 – The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) would like to extend a warm welcome to Taha Gaya as its new Executive Director. Mr. Gaya previously worked for Congress on the U.S. House of Representatives, Committee on the Judiciary as a Legal Fellow and is a licensed attorney in the State of California.
Asked about what he sees as the future of PAL-C, Mr. Gaya responded, “The Pakistani American Leadership Center although a young organization, has already started to garner name recognition within policy-makers on the Hill. As Executive Director, I hope to develop the PAL-C brand into an institution that Members of Congress, the Administration, and other policy-makers consult before making any move that will affect or influence the Pakistani-American community or the relationship between Pakistan and America. To accomplish this objective, PAL-C requires the support of its members as this is not something that we can accomplish alone through our DC office. The fundamental nature of PAL-C is that of a grassroots organization; our success or failure depends upon the participation of every single member of the Pakistani American community which we serve.”
Mr. Gaya concluded, “As Pakistani Americans we have so much to contribute to America and American society. But it requires effort. In order for America to recognize and benefit from our skills, our values, our manifold contributions we need to take that first step by actively participating in the political process at every level, whether that is through voting, through letter writing campaigns, by actively donating to organizations such as PAL-C, or by contributing our time and skills to advancing Pakistani American interests and by extension, American interests as a whole."
PAL-C would also like to announce the departure of former Executive Director Ali Chaudhry who is leaving PAL-C to pursue a law degree at Albany Law School in New York. Although sad that Mr. Chaudhary is leaving the organization after such a successful tenure, PAL-C wishes Mr. Chaudhry the greatest of successes in both his academic and legal career.
The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) is the only professional Pakistani-American advocacy organization that has an office located on Capitol Hill. It launched the Congressional Pakistan Caucus in May 2004 and works to raise awareness about Pakistani-American interests in Washington policy circles. Our activities include facilitating the Congressional Pakistan Caucus, liaisoning Pakistani officials and the community with Members of Congress, and mobilizing all Pakistani-Americans at the grassroots level.
