PAL-C Delegation Observes Pakistani Parliamentary Elections 2008

Karachi, Pakistan, February 19, 2008 – PAL-C National Director Mr. Pervaiz Lodhie served as an International Election Observer in Karachi, Pakistan, during the 2008 Pakistani Parliamentary Elections.
Mr. Lodhie visited eight polling stations in Karachi throughout the day observing, "In every polling station I observed exactly the same fully transparent and accountable voting process. The process was foolproof from any kind of errors or rigging or casting of bad votes. Each voter had a voter ID detail card prepared by Voter camps outside the Polling Stations. Inside, each Polling Station had two voting rooms set up for voting by men and two for voting by women."
"I spoke with almost all the Polling Agents in all the Stations I visited. All the agents, including both men and women, very clearly indicated 100% trust and satisfaction with the voting accuracy."
Mr. Lodhie concluded, "The Pakistan Election Commission must be congratulated for having prepared and carried out such an impossible task in such a short time... The people of Pakistan must be congratulated for carrying out the 2008 Parliamentary Elections in such a peaceful and orderly manner."
