PAL-C Condemns Threats Against Pakistani Newspapers in New York City
Washington, D.C.: The Pakistani American Leadership Center (PAL-C) strongly condemns the recent threats received by Mr. Khalil Ur Rehman and Mr. Mohammad Farooqi - editors of Urdu Times and Pakistan Post respectively. PAL-C firmly believes in the freedom of the press and expresses its utmost support to these individuals, their families and their colleagues in the face of organized crime.
Furthermore, PAL-C encourages the editors and their staff to remain steadfast in their pursuit of true and honest journalism. The community is proud of their resilient efforts!
Such crimes of hate are an abomination to all because they are the outcome of the ignorance of a few. We hope that the perpetrators of these activities are swiftly brought to justice, and we urge the New York Police Department and Mayor Bloomberg to provide help and protection to the concerned individuals.
